  Setting up Own PPC?
Posted by: llegent - 07-03-2006, 05:27 PM - Forum: PPC / CPC / Affiliate Programs - Replies (15)

Hello everyone. Do anybody know how to go about setting up my own PPC? You know, just like setting up a system to allow advertiser place their bid for ads slot on my sites and/or domains.

The other day I bump into a tool called phpAdsNew, look pretty advance for me. It has a lot of feature and even advertisers can login to check their campaign too! So, anyone has experience in either running their own PPC campaign? or using phpAdsNew or similiar tools?

Hello everyone. It has been no surprise that there are quite a lot of people actually went to registered a series of google related domains or spinned off names. Some example like hoogle, poogle, googleman, googlebiz...etc.

So, what is the possibilities of selling these type of domain for a good value? Would there really be anyone willing to buy it for a hefty price?

Back then when domain name was still a very raw virtual property, how would anyone actually willing to pay a hefty price for this type of virtual property. Well, if I remember corectly, the domain proce was like USDxx range isn't it? Plus the yearly renewal fee, it would have comes to quite a sum.

  Actual Cost to Domain Registrar?
Posted by: llegent - 07-03-2006, 03:41 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello everyone. I just reached here today. I was wondering that with all those great deal offer by the domain registrars like 1and1, registerfly...etc, with their promotion price of cheap domain regostration eg $2.99 for .info has been going like hotcake! How could they still make money and earn profit?

So, what the actual cost to these domain registrars that they could still afford such low price? eg :-
1. Actual cost for .com?
2. Actual cost for .net?
3. Actual cost for .info?
4. Actual cost for .biz?
5. and so on?

or is it possible that these registrar are still under cost? Anyone has a good idea?

  Google PR (PageRank) Defined
Posted by: sub-zero - 07-01-2006, 02:01 PM - Forum: Search Engines and Marketing - Replies (26)

PR is short for PageRank, a system Google created to help determine the popularity of a site. It's essentially what put them on the map, as it made their search results (at the time) FAR FAR better than any other search engine, because it knew which sites were more popular and it put them toward the top.

Here is what they say about it:
http://www.google.com/technology/

You can download the Google toolbar and see the PR for any site. The more incoming links a site has, the higher the PR. The higher the PR, the better that site will do in the search engines. Granted, many other factors go into search engine rankings, but PR is a pretty big one.

For reference:

- The scale goes from 0 - 10
- Most people say an 8 isn't possible for a one-man show. You need to be a big company to get the links necessary (hundreds of thousands) to get that high.
- There are just a few PR 10's in the world.
- The scale is exponential, like the Richter Scale. There are 1/10th as many PR5s as there are PR4s. There are 1/10th as many PR6s as PR5s. Etc...
- The ONLY thing that affects PageRank is incoming links and the quality of those links. A link coming to you from a PR5 is much more valuable than a link coming to you from a PR3. Of course, every link helps so never turn them down.
- An easy way to get more incoming links is to get your site listed in directories. There are a lot of paid directories out there, but that Excel list is all free ones. The list shows the PR of the sites as well, which really helps.
- If you post on other forums, and if they allow it, make sure you have a link to your site in your signature. Those are links, they pass PR, it helps.

One last thing to consider, which you often have very little control over is anchor text. The text that is used to link to your site is very important to Google. If people link to your site with the words "Smallville forum", you'll rank better for those words. If they link to your site saying "Swiss cheese", you'll rank better for those.

  Google Adsense
Posted by: angelbabyw2pointoh - 07-01-2006, 03:36 AM - Forum: PPC / CPC / Affiliate Programs - Replies (17)

I have a few small websites and blogs where I have google adsense on them. I do not get a lot of traffic, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for when I do get traffic so that people will want to click on the ads. Such as ad placement, etc.
