I think Google has some sketchy ad policies (they don't check to see whether or not companies are legit before letting them advertise), so I really just market myself by myself, in the blog community.

Then you are in a prime position to use Adbrite or any number of other options. It's great being the master of your own fate!

Go for a mix of affiliates as I found you wind up with some great stuff.

The wonderful thing about places like Adbrite is you have much more control over the ads that appear on your pages. Also, if things haven't changed too much, their program is alot more forgiving than Google's Adsense.

Having a good mix keeps things interesting. A blog or website is boring when there is too much similarity between advertisers. Throwing in something unexpected can breath new life into your ads section.

I'm thinking of making a new blog to try Adbrite... the thing is I want to develop it in a different way. I think I will use the affiliates better. We'll see.

If I can ask a newbie question, I'd like to know if the affiliate links on your site have to be very closely related to the topic of your site.

Isn't this kind of limiting for most topics?
