the .mobi tld has gone public today. Anyone rushing out to get them? I believe the intent is for websites aimed at mobile devices. I thought about going after it, but they seem expensive, and I can not really find out who is registering them.

Where does one go to find the pricing for a .mobi site?
My husband is in the mobile phone industry and I think his company might want to buy their businessname.mobi before anyone else does.

You can get them through hostway:
Hostway.com
I'm sure everywhere will have them soon.
I don't think they would be a good idea for a main site, but to protect your name, I can see it.

I don't think they make a rock hit, because .net is the most common for online business and they are not getting hits with this tdl. same is true for .mobi too.

I think all these new extensions are just a money making scheme for the registration companies. People will rush to protect their name. That's the only reason 99% of the people will buy the .mobi domains.

I think that is the primary motivation for these wacky TLDS. You would think the plan should be to make the internet easier to use, but instead it is just anyone with a big enough pocket book who wants to clutter up the landscape.
