Has anyone had any luck with software that grabs expiring domains? I know the big boys have arrangements with registrars. Can any of us small timers have success with these types of software?

Well I found some browsing around but I never tried them actually! There are even online websites that tell this.

Godaddy tends to be good for .biz or lesser known extensions.
Pool.com and SnapNames.com are the big boys and, yes, they do have partnerships with registrars. Basically, it dosent matter how good the drop-catcher company is, if someone else tries to get the name on a partner drop-catcher, they will definately get the name and you have no chance. Zach

Well on some common and famous domains, it's hard to get them as many people will be looking for them, and always waiting for them to expire!

Once I entered into a site that was supposed to be "an active forum" and every time I tried, there was a page saying that THAT domain was for sale since it had expired. Out of curiosity, I checked it a couple of times more in a 2 week period, and it was still the same. So, I could've buy it, right?
Of course I was not really interested, but it was curious for me.

I have gotten those pages that say they have expired too. There were a few that I would like to have purchased but how does one go about doing that?

Pool.com is good. But Charging $60 min.
The plus point is he charges only after getting you the domain. (For godaddy you have to pay before Backorder)

So for all us little guys/girls or newbies, we probably can't grab the big time/expired names, right?

I think that for us inexperienced people who are not in the business of it 24/7, we are probably out of the loop. Unless of course we get lucky all of a sudden! LOL!

Are you are saying that the bigger companies that are in business to grab these domains are the only ones having success at it?
