It is really worth it to opt for free web hosting? I thought free web hosting give more harm than good to websites?

Their are a lot of free hosting websites, and I think there are many good among them but it's far better if you have purchased hosting service since you can take full control of your website.

As others have said on this thread, its good for experience but unless you're dirt poor you'll want to spend a few bucks for a domain and paid web hosting.

One that's pretty reliable and would resemble a paid web host is 000webhost - they've got cpanel and you can use php / mysql.
