Hbdomains.com is the registrar I use. It provides quite cheap domains (even free if you post at their forum.) They have a special offer - $3 for .info domains. They were also selling .org for $1.8 but that offer got over.

free, how many posts do you need to do at their forum to get it free. Good prices though, I may have to check them out. Just to browse.

I looked around a little and was unable to easily find information on how to get "points" toward free domains or free hosting. If they aren't straightforward about how to do it, there is likely a catch.
