Zach said that .net is worth approx 1/3 of its .com. I know this is ballpark. I was discouraged about .net because I kept reading at another forum that at best the .net is worth 10% of the .com. Any good .net sales out there? Q- are my .mobis useless - worthless? Can't find anything written currently about mobi.

I came across an interesting blog discussing a number of .mobi topics, it seems to be quite up to date but I don't know how accurate the information is. Hopefully you could find some helpful information there.

Yes,
In the domain business, the .com space rules. But don't be discouraged, because the large majority of sales occur for other extensions.
To answer your question, here are some high .net sales from 2008:
Madrid.net $43,920
Invest.net $45,000
Porn.net $400,000
Baseball.net $52,500

WOW! That's a lot of money for a domain name, specially the Porn.net! I always thought it was easier to get good names under other extensions than .com. But there's money to be made!

Thank you guys! I read the articles and they gave me a little better idea of .mobi, but keep in mind most of the blog was written by the MOBI developer and investors. I guess my big question is, do you think many businesses will actually believe they NEED .mobi sites in the future- is mobile device technology now pointing toward or away from its value as a site? Also, why so much negativity? I love domaining!

In my experience, I've definitely encountered more sites with a .net extension than .mobi.
I suppose that the .mobi ones are just starting to heat up?

Those prices quoted were really high, they would have to make a huge amount from the domain to make it worth spending that sort of money.

Since those are so high it would be smart to see what the other extensions, other than .com, might be worth. You could still get a decent price.
