Protecting Your WordPress Site Using a Firewall
A firewall is a piece of software that detects and prevents attackers from entering your network. A plugin called Wordfence, in my opinion is the best WordPress firewall.
User-Agents (UAs) are programs that allow you to interact with the internet (UA)
A user agent is a piece of identifying data transmitted by a browser that tells a website what browser (Chrome, Firefox) and operating system it is using (Windows 10, Mac OS X).
WordPress Exploit Protection
Additionally, the commercial version of Wordfence will protect you from a variety of compromised themes and plugins until they are fixed. The number of logins on your website should be limited. WordFence can prohibit bots that enter user names and passwords on the WordPress login page frequently.
It's Important to Back Up Your WordPress Site
It's vital to back up your website daily. In the event of a catastrophic disaster, a backup can be used to restore the site.
All Plugins and Themes Must Be Updated
It's crucial to maintain all of your themes and plugins current.
WordPress includes a function that allows all plugins to be updated automatically, which is helpful for publishers or businesses who don't check in and update their sites regularly.
Plugins that have been abandoned should be avoided.
Last but not least, some plugins have been abandoned. Even if their developer has abandoned them, certain plugins can still work. There's a chance that these obsolete plugins have a security issue. They will, however, never be fixed because they have been abandoned.
If you don't take safeguards, hackers might wreak havoc on your WordPress site.
For many websites, simply adopting these simple precautions to protect the site is enough to keep it from being hacked. The free versions of these plugins offer a high level of protection, while the premium versions offer even more.
