Apparently, .org was supposed to represent only non-profit organizations like a charity or a church. As the market on domain names blew wide open with state suffixes, school suffixes, and every other sort of miscellaneous sort of suffix one could imagine to make a domain seem more unique or maybe welcoming, .org just kind of got tossed into the shuffle and seems to have lost it's uniqueness. I am not sure that any particular suffix carries any weight or influence anymore. It's just a jungle of miscelleous plantlife...some exotic and some plain, but no one really knows which is which anymore just by looking at their names.
