Having certain characters in a domain name.

When it comes to domain names do you think it's better to have the name and no other characters in the domain such as domainsocial.com or do you not think it matters if someone chooses to add a - in between the words. I myself have one domain name that has a - between two words and I have never had any problems with that domain.

Do you think adding characters in has any affect on a domain?

The only characters I see in domain names is as you stated a - which I feel is common. I tend to use this myself in some domain names but I also prefer to just have the domain name linked together without any character between the words. I can't say I have seen any other characters used though.
