Has anyone used blog marketing to get hits or rank? I heard that some firms will get bloggers to buzz about your site and include a link, but if Google ever goes through and punishes this trend, will it cause more harm than the good it once offered?

Well I always use link exchanges and blog posting to get some hits form that site. But I think Google does not like it.

I dunno. Google tends to accept a well written blog, especially if it's not for the purpose of traffic but moreso for an FYI purpose.

Nicely put! I like that!
I think Google allows bloggers to put Adsense in their blogs, so they can sell more. They might not be paying much, but they sure are selling. But we'll see how it all comes down to it. I know they have problems with certain content on the blogs that have Adsense, but if you are careful, I think you can take advantage of that.

Yes this is big advantage of blogger.com because they can easily put Adsense code on blog.

I truly believe it is better to set up your blog, get you traffic going, and only do Adsense if you can't get traffic and advertising revenue in any other fashion. The fact that you have to be constantly concerned over what Google's rules might be, and how they might change, almost makes it more trouble than it is worth for blogging.

I understand it, Sage, in case you are doing your blog for proffit. But in my case, I'm blogging for fun, just to have a place to say whatever comes to my mind related to specific themes. So I put a couple of Adsense to see what happens, but not really interested on actually making a lot of money on them. Who knows? right now is just for fun.
